HOW TO MAKE INPUT – OUTPUT CONNECTIONS TO THE MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKERS?

Miniature circuit breakers are automatic switches designed to protect the electrical circuit they are connected to against overload and short circuit conditions. When the current passing through the circuit to which they are connected goes above a certain value or there is a short circuit in the circuit, they break the circuit. Thus, the circuit breaker performs both the overload (thermal) and the short circuit (magnetic) protection functions.

In miniature circuit, depending on the volume of the electrical panel used and the arrangement of the circuit elements within the panel, there may be a need to feed the breaker from the lower or upper terminals. Such an opportunity is important in order to use the volume inside the panel more efficiently in some cases.

Open and closed positions are specified as 0 and 1 on the miniature circuit breakers. In general, when the breaker is in the open position (position 0), it is preferred that the energy waits at the 0 position, that is, to avoid any careless behavior or confusion at the lower terminals of the breaker. This situation is completely optional and there is no technical problem in feeding the breaker from the upper or lower terminals. Terminal connections are also shown on the breakers. In this notation, the upper terminals 1,3,5 and N; lower terminals are indicated by 2,4,6 and N markings. The point to note here is that if the L1 phase is connected to terminal 1 of the breaker, the output of the same phase should be taken from the terminal 2. Apart from this, it is not obligatory to input energy from the upper terminals specified as 1,3,5 and to output energy from the lower terminals specified as 2,4,6. As long as the neutral line is connected to the “N” terminal marked on the breaker, there is no technical obligation on how the phase sequence is made or from which terminals the phase inputs are made.
